Maureen Cawley is an award-winning reporter and public relations writer with over ten years experience in news writing, features and promotional materials for print and web publications.

She has created eye-catching content on hundreds of topics, such as travel and tourism, food and wine, lifestyle, entertainment, and events. As an editorial assistant for On Deck Magazine, she uncovered the real Jersey Shore for tourists and locals from her home in Wildwood, New Jersey. She’s interviewed and written about visiting celebrities like Raven-Symoné; country singer, Brenda Lee; the Harlem Globetrotters; bike builder, Arlen Ness; children’s author, Dan Gutman; Weird Al Yankovic and Chubby Checker. Her work also appears in Southern New Jersey Vacationer and Sun-By-The-Sea.

As a journalist, Maureen covered news and events throughout Southern New Jersey for The Wildwood Leader, The Middle Township Gazette, The Cape May Gazette, and The Cape May County Herald, where she covered school news and education.

She received a First Place award from the New Jersey Press Association for Reporting, Writing and Illustration in 2007.

Her promotional writing has helped businesses throughout Southern New Jersey to get their message out. Her work includes: press releases, advertorials, newsletters, business letters, and advertising brochures.  Her skills include presenting material in a dynamic, interesting way, with attention to details and deadlines. She is also an effective copywriter and proofreader who helps businesses make sure that their communication reflects their commitment to quality.

Maureen began her writing career, as Maureen Lafferty. Her early work included poetry and plays preformed during backyard productions with her six siblings at their childhood home in a suburb of Philadelphia. Since then, she has honed her writing skills and satisfied her wanderlust while living in: Houston, Texas; Fribourg, Switzerland; Orlando Florida; Ashaway, Rhode Island; Groton, Connecticut; Saratoga Springs, New York; and Silverdale, Washington.

For the past 10 years, she has lived “down the shore” in Cape May County, New Jersey with her husband, Troy, their three children, and a pair of black Beagledor-style mutts. When she is not writing, she is barefoot on the beach, gardening, cooking or planning her family’s next vacation.
